Saturday Excursion Options
We are pleased to offer conference participants two optional tours, each with a different schedule and focus. Interested participants should email the Conference Chair Prof. Raquel Meneses [email protected] expressing their interest by no later than 15 July. Then, upon availability, you can register with the tour of your preference.
Option 1 – Saturday Morning Visits (6 Bridges + Caves Visit)
Highlights
- Cruise along the Douro River from Cais de Gaia, passing under six notable bridges.
- Guided tour of the Ferreira & Sandeman caves, including a wine tasting session.
Schedule
- 09:45 – Meeting point: Cais de Gaia (location details will be provided)
- 10:15 – Porto Six Bridges Panoramic Cruise
- 11:30 – Ferreira & Sandeman caves tour with wine tasting
Fee and Capacity
- €35 per person
- Minimum 20 participants, maximum 25 participants
Option 2 – Saturday Full-Day Trip to the Douro Region (UNESCO World Heritage)
Highlights
- Professional guided tour of the Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
- Visit to Quinta do Seixo, including a welcome reception and walk-through.
- Wine tasting featuring Sandeman Apitiv Reserve White Porto and Sandeman 10 Year Old Tawny Porto, plus snacks.
- Lunch at Douro Bites, located at the Pinhão railway station.
Schedule
- 09:00 – Meeting point: City Hall
- 11:00 – Reception and visit at Quinta do Seixo
- 12:00 – Wine tasting and snacks
- 13:30 – Lunch at Douro Bites (Pinhão station)
- 15:00 – Departure to Porto
